No Turkish GP anymore but two F1-races in Austria

Published on 14 May 2021 by Mike Motilall

The Turkish Grand Prix will not, as was already expected, take place anymore. Instead there will be an additional race in Austria.

After the race in Canada had already been taken off the 2021-race calendar and replaced by a race in Turkey due to the Covid 19-pandemic, that race has now also been cancelled. Great Britain has recently put Turkey on their list with countries marked red; as a consequence a race on Istanbul Park is no longer a possibility.

Formula 1 still aims to maintain the same amount of races in 2021 and have opted to, just like last year, schedule two races on the Red Bull Ring in Austria. To make this possible, the French Grand Prix will be brought forward by a week. This means that the race on Paul Ricard will now be held on 20th June and with this there is nothing in the way to have a race on 27th June and 4th July in Austria.
