Williams F1 team acquired by investment company

Published on 21 August 2020 by Kees-Jan Koster

Williams F1 team announced on Friday they have been acquired by investment company Dorilton Capital. The privately owned team had financial difficulties for quite a while, to secure their future they had began talks with interested parties regarding a sale of a minority or majority stake in the company.

Through the acquisition by Dorilton Capital, an American investment company which will take over the whole team, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The focus of Dorilton Capital will be to make the once so successful Formula 1 team competitive again.

The announcement of the acquisition comes three days after the confirmation that the team signed the new Formula 1 Concorde agreement. Williams believes that the new agreement will provide a fairer financial deal for independent constructors. The team will continue to race under the Williams brand, with the chassis name remaining unchanged. Dorilton has no plans to re-locate the team from Grove, its traditional home.
